TULSA — A state representative is doing what he can to make day cares safer.
State Representative Avery Frix (R-Muskogee) wrote a letter to the Department of Human Services Wednesday urging them to put cameras in day cares.
Frix said the letter comes after several families in Muskogee approached him after their child was hurt while at day care.
He also said cameras will protect day cares, day care workers and the children and their families.
"We just want families to feel safe and comfortable when they place their children in these daycare facilities," Frix said. "And I think this is just one step towards doing that."
Frix said he hopes DHS can make changes internally, but there are some state statutes that need to be changed. He said he has not heard back from DHS yet.
DHS declined to comment for this story.
