TULSA — Nearly 1,700 runners took advantage of the nice weather this weekend to run for a great cause.

The 37th annual St. Patrick's Day run was held Saturday right here on Tulsa's Brookside neighborhood.

It benefits both Special Olympics Oklahoma and the Tulsa Running Club.

The St. Patrick's Day 5Kk run is also the biggest fundraiser in the Tulsa area for the Special Olympics.

"We raise about $50,000 a year that helps us serve around 140 events that go on in Oklahoma and over 11,600 Special Olympic athletes just here in Oklahoma," Derek Cain with the Oklahoma Special Olympics said.

Our own Travis Guillory served as emcee of the festivities.
