Group travels to Tulsa to learn about Holocaust

A group of 40 high school sophomores from Spiro visited the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art in Tulsa to learn about the Holocaust.

January 27 is the International Holocaust Memorial Day in remembrance of the prisoner liberation in Auschwitz in 1945.

The Director of Holocaust Education at the Jewish Federation of Tulsa, Suzie Bogle, says it's important to teach students about this part of history.

"We want to teach that common humanity and common respect, so that we never get to that point in our society where it is acceptable to have bigotry and hatred against other people," says Bogle.

Two docents gave the two-hour educational tour Wednesday.

Spiro High School is located about 100 miles southeast of Tulsa.
