Spirit Airline plane diverted to Tulsa from New York City

TULSA - A Spirit Airline plane has diverted to Tulsa from New York City due to unknown reasons.

Tulsa International Airport officials said the Spirit Airline left LaGuardia Airport in NYC at 1 p.m. Central Time.

The plane landed in Tulsa for unknown reasons at 5 p.m., officials said.

Officials said the crew has timed out, so the plane is not leaving anytime soon.

Officials said the plane has been on the tarmac for three hours.

Five flights have been diverted to Tulsa today due to severe weather, officials said.

Spirit Airlines flight 917 with scheduled service from New York LaGuardia to Dallas was forced to divert to Tulsa due to dangerous weather in Dallas.

As a result of long ground delays in Dallas, our flight crew was legally required to be put on rest and therefore no longer allowed to continue to Dallas. Guests will be bussed via motor coaches to Dallas and receive a full refund for the flight. We apologize for the inconvenience and frustration these diversions can cause, but the safety of our Guests and Crew is paramount.
