SPERRY, Okla. — A Sperry man was flown to a hospital in critical condition after crashing into a fence and tree, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

David Malotte, 51, wrecked just before 3 p.m. on Friday in the 8600 block of North Peoria in Tulsa County, OHP says.

The investigating trooper says Malotte was eastbound on 86th Street North, when, for an unknown reason, he left the roadway to the left, then struck a fence and impacted a tree. He was pinned for 22 minutes until the Sperry Fire Department was able to free him, OHP says.

According to the report, Malotte's condition at the time of the crash and the cause still are under investigation.
