TULSA -- The City of Tulsa is in talks with Amazon to get their next fulfillment center, sources tell 2 Works For You.

A fulfillment center is where Amazon picks items out of inventory, packs and ships them to customers.

Currently, there are more than 100 in the United States.

An application was submitted to the Tulsa Metropolitan Area Planning Commission on April 19 for project "Dylan Gateway."

The application is for 82 acres of currently undeveloped land near 43rd Street North and 125th East Avenue. Sources tell 2 Works For You that is where Amazon could build their center.

The plan shows a 640,000 square foot building on the property.

An Amazon fulfillment center could bring thousands of jobs to Tulsa.

Both Tulsa and Oklahoma City put in for the second Amazon Headquarters to move into their cities. Neither made the short list.

After the announcement, Mayor GT Bynum said he wanted to continue the forward progress the city made during that process. He said he wants Tulsa to compete with the greatest cities in the country for the best companies that are out there.

The only Amazon facility in the state right now is a sorting center that opened in Oklahoma City in 2017.

We reached out to Amazon for confirmation. They said it is their policy not to comment on rumors and speculation.

The City of Tulsa would not comment either.
