TULSA, Okla. — The "stay inside" nor "stay away from large groups" warnings are stopping some Tulsans from visiting the restaurants and bars down Brookside -- some of which are taking a hit because of the coronavirus, despite doing what they can to make sure everything and everyone is sanitary.

That is not the same case for every restaurant and bar along Peoria Avenue. Mondo’s Italian Restaurant and Warehouse Bar and Grill are seeing a steady pace of customers, if not more than usual.

Devin Boggan, a bartender and bouncer with Warehouse says, “We’ve actually had an increase in business since the outbreak. People haven’t wanted to be home.”

Maybe it is cabin fever or just the desire to maintain normalcy.

Down the street from Warehouse, Mondo’s is packed.

Michael Aloisio, co-owner of Mondo’s says, “You wouldn’t know anything’s going on. It’s been really amazing. We’re happy our local customers are so loyal.”

Aloisio also says his to-go orders are up. That is the same case for Brookside Diner, across the way.

While they wait for COVID-19 to pass, cleanliness is even more of a priority.

Aloisio says, “We’ve stepped up the measures on sanitizing everything, washing our hands, everything that the health department and the news is telling us to do. Whatever you touch, you gotta wipe down. Make sure the dishwashers are the right temperature and all the soaps are up to par.”

Another safety tip as important as cleanliness is social distancing. People should be keeping six to 10 feet away from each other, to prevent the spread of the virus, while out with other people.
