TULSA - Soldier's Wish foundation and Walmart partnered up to host a free luncheon for military veterans at the American Legion Post 1.

The foundation honored Skiatook Police Officer Hank Guilfoyle, who's also a marine corps veteran, with the second annual "Jared Shoemaker" award.

The award was named after Shoemaker, a Tulsa Police officer who was killed in Iraq in 2006 during his deployment.

"A little shocked. I had no idea this was going to happen today," said Officer Guilfoyle after he received the award on stage.

A spokesperson from the foundation said they wanted to recognize Officer Guilfoyle for his service to the community and his involvement with veterans.

He likes helping disabled vets by taking them turkey hunting.

The foundation also announced they're going to grant him a wish and help him with the turkey hunts.
