Six people are arrested after a major investigation into a Mexican-based drug trafficking organization operating in Tulsa.
Several law enforcement agencies, including Homeland Security, helped take the suspects into custody.
Today's sweep of multiple homes ended with the detonation of an unloaded pipe bomb.
Agents seized more than $100,000 in suspected drug money as part of a 5-year plus investigation.
Authorities served warrants on 6 Tulsa homes today, all connected to the operation. Authorities list the homes in the neighborhoods of the 8000-block of E. 25th Place, 2100-block of N. Louisville Ave., 3800-block of S. Rockford Ave., 3600-block of S. Indianapolis Ave., 1500-block of S. Elwood Ave., and the 2200-block of E. 12th St.
Three firearms (one stolen and one illegally possessed by a convicted felon), two cars and 13 ounces of black tar heroin were seized.
While serving a warrant at the house on Elwood, investigators discovered an unloaded pipe bomb and detonated it.
Neighbors said the home there has always been suspicious.
"It's a big house," Thomas Richmond, a neighbor said. "He rents it out to different tenants like the garage apartment is rented out. I think he's got three bedrooms upstairs he rents out. He may event rent out the basement."
Neighbors told 2 Works for You the owner lives with his renters but in a separate part of the home. He was out of town during the incident and there is no word on if he will face charges or if he knew about the operation.
Nine agencies assisted in today's recovery, all part of Operation Train Tracks. Those who assisted include Homeland Security, Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, Tulsa Police Department, FBI, Defense Criminal Investigation Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, Drug Enforcement Administration, and ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
