TULSA — The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office and officials with the Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency are warning flood-affected residents to be wary of potential scammers.

The Sheriff's Office has received reports of out-of-state contractors "hovering" around flood-affected neighborhoods.

Officials advise that residents ask for identification and other necessary certifications that would be needed for sought services. It's best to do research to make sure the contractor is licensed and reputable.

If you're unsure of the individual, interaction, or the situation seems suspicious, contact the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office or your local law enforcement agency.
