“I’m proud to endorse my Senate colleague and friend Marco Rubio to be the next president of the United States,” said Inhofe. “This should not be a surprise to anyone for two reasons. First, back in 2010, I endorsed Marco in his Florida Republican primary race for the U.S. Senate over the establishment candidate. Second, I believe, as many polls reflect, Marco is the strongest republican candidate when matched up with Hillary Clinton. Marco has proven to be a solid conservative voice over the years, recognized not only by organizations like the American Conservative Union, National Rifle Association, Family Research Council, National Right to Life, Citizens Against Government Waste, among others, but also by his colleagues and, most importantly, his constituents.
“Marco and I have shared, similar values, such as working for a smaller federal government and putting an end to wasteful spending. At the same time, we both recognize the need for the United States to be a global leader and that it requires a well-supported, world-class military that can safely and effectively answer when called upon. Over the past seven years, our nation has suffered under an administration that has disarmed America, emboldened our enemies, and made our allies question America’s commitment. Marco has the leadership qualities and vision to undo this disastrous trend and put us back on the path of leading with strength and in pursuit of peace. This is vitally important as our military leaders and experts continue to warn us that the world is a more dangerous place than any time in recent history. As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Marco consistently demonstrates that he understands what it will take to keep America safe and to rebuild our place of leadership in the world. He is also one of the most informed and most knowledgeable critics of the Obama administration’s failed foreign policy, not only regarding ISIS in the Middle East, but across the globe. Marco has demonstrated sound judgment in knowing who our allies are and who they are not.
“Likewise, Marco understands that our veterans have made tremendous sacrifices for our freedoms and that as a nation we must do a better job at taking care of them in return. The Department of Veterans Affairs has become a bureaucratic nightmare, and Marco has the leadership conviction and skills to continue reforming a broken system so that our service men and women can have the quality of care they have earned and deserve.
“Marco has a vision for the United States, whether it is keeping us safe; dismantling Obamacare and replacing it with a system that actually delivers on lower cost and more access; ensuring education is done at the local levels with parents and teachers and not dictated from Washington; instituting real entitlement reform that keeps our commitments to seniors and all Americans alike; enacting real tax reform; or fighting unnecessary government regulations in order to create real economic growth rather than the current stagnant condition of our economy. I trust Marco to make these decisions and lead with conviction, and at noon Jan. 20, 2017, I would be proud and elated to call him, Mr. President.”
