According to Sapulpa Police Department's Facebook post, officials say Sapulpa Mayor Reg Green died over the weekend.

Mayor Green was elected in 2011 and also served on the city council.

He suffered from congestive heart failure after surviving a massive heart attack 15-years ago. He was recently hospitalized before passing away from a heart condition.

Even up to the end, Green stayed active when his family wanted him to take it easy.

"You wouldn't have known he was sick had you met him, because he was always the first to jump up and volunteer to help, or try to move things that were clearly not meant to be moved by a 74-year old man," said Ryan Green, son of Mayor Green.

Green was 74.

His funeral will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Sapulpa on Friday at 10 a.m.
