SAND SPRINGS, Okla. — A family that lost everything in the flooding back in may, has almost fully recovered nine months later.
The Ward family held an open house today to show everyone how they came back from the devastation.
“It’s definitely amazing, the people who showed up to help," Mike said. "We wouldn’t be where we are today without that.”
Mr. and Mrs. Ward tell us they spent more than eighty thousand dollars to make their house a home again.
In May of 2019 several Green Country residents were in shock to find their homes almost completely under water during the floods.
“It was kind of an emotional roller coaster as we went through the process," Sherii said. "God definitely blessed us, with the friends and family that we had that helped us along the way.”
The Ward family was one of them, their Sand Springs residence under two feet of water.
Mike and Sherri Ward tell us, "It was a long 6 to 7 month process, and we still have somethings, a ways to go. Things that are not exactly where we want them yet, but definitely blessed. It’s definitely better than it was before."
The open house was full of family and friends, and they were all their to support Mr. and Mrs. Ward.
“If it weren’t for the ones that are here right now," Mike said. "Also, the ones that will be coming later, we would not be where we are today.
He says their were days when he was overwhelmed by the support.
“Most of my moments came from the blessings from other people," Mike said. "When they would give financially, or help.
Ward says coworkers, neighbors, and church friends from all over came to their rescue, to helping with whatever they needed.
"There were several times i would sit in a room, on a bucket you know because their was nothing else to sit on because the house was all tore up, and just kind of break down," Mike said. "It was incredible experience.”
And now they have a their home back.
"Things that are not exactly where we want them yet," Mike said. "But we are definitely blessed, it’s definitely better than it was before.
