TULSA, OK-The Outsiders House Museum Founder and Executive Director Danny O'Connor will lead a dedication and plaque ceremony to commemorate a filming location from Rumble Fish, a novel written by Tulsan S. E. Hinton in 1975, that was adapted for the screen by Hinton, and produced and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The film, an American drama set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was released in 1983.

"This is just one of the many plaques we plan to make. We hope to honor, not only S. E. Hinton, but also Tulsa's rich history as it pertains to the movies based on her novels. Tex, The Outsiders, and Rumble Fish were written and filmed in Tulsa, and are important cultural amenities," said O'Connor. "Our goal is to honor the legacy of these works while showing fans the actual filming locations, as well as encouraging pop culture tourism in Tulsa and other locations around the great state of Oklahoma."

The event will take place on November 1st at 12:00 PM in the alley south of 5th Street between Main Street and Boston Avenue in Tulsa. The alley, known as The Art Alley after a recent mural project that covered the alley facing facades with public art, was a filming location for Rumble Fish. Speakers for the dedication will include Mayor G.T. Bynum, Danny O'Connor, and Jeff Moore. The Outsiders House Museum, Price Family Properties, and ONEGas and are the sponsors of the marker and welcome the public to share in, and witness this dedication ceremony.

"The plaque helps bring attention to community treasures and the importance of their preservation," said Jeff Moore, executive director of OKPOP, the Oklahoma Museum of Popular Culture. "Awareness and education are among the best

ways to guarantee the preservation of our state's history. The film starred Matt Dillon, Mickey Rourke, Nicholas Cage, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Dennis Hopper, and Vincent Spano. Coppola and Hinton wrote the screenplay for Rumble Fish while filming The Outsiders, and shot the movie using many of the same cast and crew immediately following the production of The Outsiders. "It's the one I am most proud of in a literary sense," said Hinton.
