Rogers County District Attorney Matt Ballard said in a statement Monday that the Owasso officers were justified in their officer-involved shooting back in March.
Authorities said Officers Casey Lawson and Laura Lehner responded to a disturbance call in the Lake Valley subdivision near 151st East Avenue and 108th Place North around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21.
The officers were confronted by Duane Preciado, who was carrying a loaded AK-47 rifle and a handgun, officials said.
Officials said Preciado, who was a veteran, was struck at least once in the chest and died from his wounds at a local hospital.
"For reasons set forth, it is my decision that the actions of Officer Lawson and Officer Lehner were justified and appropriate under the facts and law," Ballard said.
