TULSA--Traffic will shut down for up to 8 hours at the City of Tulsa works on repairing a broken waterline.

South Union Avenue will be closed to all traffic between Southwest Boulevard and West 39th Street for repair of a 12-inch waterline. The repair is expected to take up to eight hours.

The waterline broke on Wednesday afternoon about 1pm, and crews started digging about 3:15pm.

City representatives say that a contractor is working on a sanitary sewer project across the street from the waterline break.

Twenty residences will be out of water during the repair, but no businesses are affected.
