There are food bank branches in Tulsa and McAlester. Together, donated items are given out to hundreds of partner agencies operating feeding programs in 24 counties of eastern Oklahoma.
These programs, and food bank direct initiatives, include:
- emergency food pantries
- soup kitchens
- emergency shelters
- child feeding programs
- senior feeding programs
- veteran’s initiatives
The food bank provides hundreds of thousands of meals each week to people struggling with hunger. In addition, the food bank helps raise public awareness about hunger and the role of food banking in alleviating hunger.
This summer, the food bank will produce and distribute thousands of meals each week for several feeding sites for students. It is part of their "Schools out, Meals In" program. According to the food bank, when children are out of school for the summer, they no longer have access to the free and reduced-cost meal program, which many families rely on.
The food bank tries to help fill that gap for families by providing meals for children in high-poverty areas during extended school holidays and over summer vacation.
