One woman is in custody and a man is in the hospital after an officer involved shooting that happened this afternoon.
The shooting followed a pursuit that took place in East Tulsa.
After two officers in the area heard gunshots at a gas station near 2100 S. Garnett, a man armed with a pistol fled the scene.
A few minutes later that car got a flat tire, at that time the female driver jumped out and tried to run away before being apprehended by police.
The gunman moved to the drivers seat and the chase continued into a neighborhood off of East 28th Street, he then jumped out and let the car roll into a home.
When he emerged holding the gun, a Tulsa Police Officer fired multiple rounds.
TPD says these kinds of chases are a safety risk in busy neighborhoods.
Officer Jeanne Pierce with the Tulsa Police Department tells us, "It's very challenging especially when we know we have an individual with a gun whose already fired it, already injured someone. We know that they don't care for the citizens of Tulsa and we try to make sure that we do everything as safely as possible so nobody else gets hurt or injured."
Once the suspect's gun was taken away he was transported to the hospital.
He is currently being treated and is still alive.
The officer involved will be put on an administrative leave while TPD investigates.
There was one victim at the intersection, police are in the process of interviewing him to determine his injuries.
