Pursuit suspect steals OHP unit, one OHP trooper and one MHP trooper injured

MIAMI, Okla — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating after a pursuit and stolen patrol unit resulted in an OHP trooper and Missouri Highway Patrol trooper were injured.

The pursuit started around 5:30 p.m. between Vinita and Afton Oklahoma.

An OHP trooper was in pursuit of a black Dodge Charger on the Will Rogers Turnpike going eastbound.

The suspect's vehicle struck stop sticks that had been set up near the Miami gate. The suspect's tire deflated and he exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

OHP troopers pursued on foot, at some point the suspect stole an OHP patrol car and continued eastbound on the Will Rogers Turnpike.

When the suspect crossed state lines into Missouri he struck a MHP unit.

The MHP trooper was transported to a hospital for unknown injuries.

An OHP trooper, Micah Gibe, was accidentally struck by a MHP unit, the OHP trooper was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries.

OHP Trooper Gibe is a 7 year veteran of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, he was treated and released from the hospital.

The suspect was taken into custody after hitting stop sticks set up by MHP.
