TULSA – A new location proposal for the Iron Gate Soup Kitchen was denied this week, leaving the need for a larger facility still unmet.

The Downtown Coordinating Council voted to deny the request for a new spot in the Pearl District on Wednesday. The proposal would have been within the IDL near 7th and Kenosha.

On November 17, the Board of Adjustment will meet to discuss the recommendation.

Renderings of the proposed new location would be around four times larger than the previous space at Trinity Episcopal Church at 5th Cincinnati. Those in favor of building the new spot say downtown is in desperate need of a place to continue to provide food for the hungry.
