Progress seen at Tulsa Premium Outlets in Jenks

JENKS, Okla. -- "Tulsa Premium Outlets 2020" is posted on a sign along the Creek Turnpike, showing some activity at the property.

We first brought you the news of developers looking to build in Jenks in May 2015.

The outlets expected to carry nearly 90 stores sitting on 325,000 square feet never had a groundbreaking ceremony.

In 2013 voters, passed a bond giving $7.5 million to upgrade the interchanges at the Creek Turnpike, and the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority also contributed $10.5 million to expand roads at the Creek Turnpike and Elm Street.

The entire project was supposed to be open in the summer of 2017, but nearly a year later, there's minor activity happening that's keeping the project alive.

The Tulsa Premium Outlets were originally supposed to be near Turkey Mountain, but after a large amount of opposition for developing near a wildlife area, Simon Property group moved to the property to Jenks.
