The most unfortunate outcome of someone contracting COVID-19 is death, and that sparked one viewer to reach out with a question about organ donation.

She messaged the problem solvers asking, “If an individual has COVID-19 and are listed as an organ donor, are they still allowed to donate their organs if they die?”

Jeff Orlowski, President and CEO of LifeShare, said, “With organ donation being considered an essential healthcare function during a time of national emergency, LifeShare of Oklahoma is practicing an abundance of caution around COVID-19 and our daily operations. As a responsible healthcare organization, we are testing all potential organ donors for the virus and a negative test result is required for a patient to be a donor.”

If there is a coronavirus question you would like our problem solvers to look into, call our coronavirus hotline at 918-748-1502 and leave a message.
