Muskogee Elementary School staff member tests positive for COVID-19, 22 in quarantine

Muskogee Public Schools released a statement saying a staff member at Pershing Elementary tested positive for COVID-19.

Through contact tracing, the school district identified twelve employees and ten students that had contact with the staff member.

All 22 people who had contact with the positive case have left the building to quarantine for fourteen days.

Upon learning of the positive case, MPS immediately notified the Muskogee County Health Department.

According to officials, this is the first positive case in the district since students returned on Monday, August 31st.

Muskogee Public Schools is scheduled for Virtual Instruction from Sept. 8th to Sept. 11th.

The Maintenance Department will be sanitizing and conducting extra cleaning duties at Pershing Elementary during the three day weekend in preparation for staff to return on Tuesday, September 8th.
