PONCA CITY, Okla. — A family is together again after a Ponca City man is released from the hospital after spending 28 days in a coma from battling COVID-19.
Geofffry Cowan, 69, moved into a rehab facility in Tulsa, but not before seeing his wife and daughter.
Geoffry, who has diabetes and heart disease, tested posted for the virus in mid-march after being sick for weeks.
He and his wife, Steffi, work in the medical field and neither has traveled recently.
Before making the move to rehab.. His daughter and wife were waiting just outside the hospital doors.. Finally embracing after weeks a part.
“We hope we brought smiles because we are smiling and we are excited for his progress," said Geoffry's daughter, Christy Yousefi.
Geoffry’s wife, Steffi, also contracted the virus and has since recovered.
She also completed 14 days of quarantine.
Before the couple is officially reunited under one roof, Geoffry will remain in Tulsa for at least a month.
Doctors said it could be a year before he’s fully recovered.
