TULSA — A Tulsa mother has been arrested after police said she choked her eight-year-old son and tried to abandon her two-year-old daughter in a park.

The incident happened at about 11 a.m. on Wednesday at O'Brien Park at 6300 North Lewis.

A witness said while walking through the park, she heard a woman yelling at children. The woman was identified as Larhonda Brown.

The witness said the mother was yelling at an eight-year-old boy to leave his sister in the park because she had "bad blood." The boy reportedly was crying and telling his mother that he wouldn't leave his sister.

The witness said the mother then grabbed the boy by the neck and took him to the ground. The witness ran over and separated the mother from the children and called 911.

Police said the mother had been drinking.

No medical treatment was needed after the incident.

Brown was arrested on one count of child abuse and one count of child endangerment.
