SAND SPRINGS — Sand Springs police said they have arrested a suspect after he allegedly stole a vehicle and then led them on a chase.

Police said a victim reported his SUV stolen from the Carl's Jr. in Sand Springs just before 7 a.m. Monday.

The stolen vehicle, police said, was last seen heading eastbound on U.S. Highway 64 heading toward Tulsa when an officer spotted the vehicle 15-20 minutes later and a pursuit ensued.

Police said the suspect led officers on the pursuit, which ended in Cleveland, Okla., on U.S. 4 near North 3700 Road.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol joined Sand Springs police in the pursuit, officials said.

The suspect, later identified as Kenneth Overton, left the roadway, drove through a ditch and struck a tree, police said.

The vehicle owner told 2 Works for You that the SUV only had a flat tire, which he was able to replace and drive off without needing a tow.
