TULSA, Okla. - Police arrested Devonte Spivey, 22, in connection to the fatal shooting in south Tulsa where a man was shot in the back of the head.

Spivey faces a first degree murder complaint. The name of the victim hasn't been released.

Tulsa Police responded to the Somerset Apartments on Mingo and 65th Street around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday. When officers arrived, they found a 22-year-old man shot in the back of his head inside his apartment.

Paramedics rushed him to the hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 6:20 a.m.

Homicide detectives said Spivey was at the scene and told officers he didn't know how the resident was shot. He originally told investigators that he was a friend of the victim and was helping him move out of the apartment.

However, detectives said his statement didn't match surveillance video provided by the apartment complex. After reviewing the video, they determined that Spivey lied about what he claimed had occurred. When confronted with the evidence, Spivey retracted his original statement.

This is the city's 65th homicide since the beginning of the year.
