35-year-old Damion Richardo Jones is in jail after police say he assaulted a female officer in north Tulsa.

Police say at 11:18 p.m. Tuesday, the officer spotted Jones jaywalking at 2400 North Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and started to talk to him.

Investigators say the officer found drug paraphernalia on the man, and tried to arrest him.

They say that's when Jones punched the officer in the face, and the officer activated her emergency button to call for backup.

They say she tried to use a taser on the man, but it wasn't successful.

Responding officers took the suspect into custody. They say he will face charges of drug paraphernalia, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and jaywalking. His bond is set at more than $10,000.

Paramedics treated the injured officer on the scene for minor injuries.
