TULSA -- After a lengthy police chase that ended with a crash, a bank robbery suspect was arrested Friday afternoon.

Tulsa police officials in the robbery division said Mark Jones was involved in a bank robbery at Commerce Bank at 2054 Utica Square this afternoon, police said.

Jones, who police said was armed with a handgun, led police in a black Ford Expedition on a highway chase that ended on I-44 eastbound near 57th West Avenue.

Police said after Jones robbed the bank, he took off heading south on Southwest Boulevard.

The chase went through west Tulsa, with multiple agencies in the suspect's trail. Jones then came back up the opposite direction on I-44.

That's when Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers used what they call tactical vehicle intervention, which is when a trooper stopped Jones with their vehicle.

Jones was taken out of his vehicle after the crash and taken to a hospital.

"He went off road. He was jumping over stuff. He was very, very dangerous. We're thankful for OHP doing what they did," said Sgt. Brandon Watkins with the Tulsa Police Department.

No one else was injured in the crash.
