KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A detective was shot in the area near the Kansas Speedway on Monday afternoon, Kansas City, Kansas police said.

Our sister station, KSHB in Kansas City, says KCPD and Kansas Highway Patrol helicopters are assisting in the search of a tan sedan on Interstate 70 westbound from Interstate 435, officials said.
No further details about the suspected vehicle or the suspect has been released. There is no word on the detective's condition at this time. Officers have shutdown State Avenue at 110th Street.
