Local firefighters and police officers put their barbeque skills to the test during the Badges, Blazes and BBQ Cook-Off Sunday evening.

The first annual event was held at the Kirk of The Hills Presbyterian Church in south Tulsa.

Members of the Tulsa Police Department, Tulsa Fire Department and Owasso Police Department started cooking around 7 a.m. and competed for the judge’s choice award and people’s choice award for the best barbeque.

Owasso won the judge’s choice award and TFD won the people’s choice award.

2 Works for You reporter Marla Carter judged the competition along with U.S. Federal Judge Greg Frizzell and Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler.

All of the money raised at the event will benefit the Juvenile Justice Ministry, a program that helps juveniles who have committed crimes get back on the right track.
