Pittsburg County resident contracts West Nile Virus, as per Oklahoma State Health Department

PITTSBURG COUNTY, Okla. – The first Oklahoma case of West Nile virus of 2016 has been reported, as per the Oklahoma State Health Department.

OSDH says a resident in Pittsburg County contracted the disease not long after several mosquitos tested positive for West Nile.

Now, OSDH officials are warning residents to take extra precautions to combat contracting the mosquito-borne illness. In 2015, there were 89 cases of the virus and 10 people died from the illness.
