Tulsa police say two people in wheelchairs were struck by a vehicle in the 800 block of N. 89th E. Ave. in an "unfortunate accident."
An officer told 2 Works For You the couple were having to use the street because their wheelchairs couldn't get to the sidewalk due to an open gate blocking access. A vehicle headed north couldn't see the dark wheelchairs, plus oncoming lights affected visibility, police said.
The couple were transported to a local hospital by EMSA, but no word on their condition. The officer said it's possible the man suffered a broken leg.
