Pedestrian killed while crossing Interstate 35, OHP says

NOBLE COUNTY, Okla. — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a 80-year-old pedestrian is dead after being struck by a car on Interstate 35 on Wednesday.

Gary Hylton, of Prairie Village, Kan., was pronounced dead at the scene due to whole body injuries, OHP says.

The incident happened about 5 p.m., approximately 6 miles south of Perry on I-35.

According to the collision report, Candace Box, 70, of Perry, was traveling north on the interstate when she struck Hylton, who was attempting to cross the northbound lanes on foot.

The conditions of both people at the time of the crash is listed as apparently normal. The investigating trooper said the cause was due to pedestrian action.
