TULSA – The name of the person killed in an auto pedestrian wreck on Friday has been released, as per Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Tony Dee Carter, 48, was walking westbound on Interstate 44 in the eastbound lane at Admiral Place when he was struck by a Chevrolet Tahoe.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol received a call around 4 a.m. that a driver hit a male pedestrian near the 129th East Avenue exit.

The driver, Juan Herrera Ortiz, 30, was heading eastbound when he attempted to swerve out of the way so as to not hit Carter, says Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Carter was later pronounced dead from massive injuries, reports the Dept. of Public Safety.
