Pawnee Fire Department: Crews responding to large grass fire in the Pawnee area

PAWNEE, Okla. — The fire is almost entirely contained, according to the Pawnee Fire Department.

Officials say fire crews are currently putting out hotspots in the brush.

Firefighters are responding to a large, active grass fire in the Pawnee area Wednesday afternoon, according to the Pawnee Fire Department.

Officials say 12 trucks are at the scene near 34300 Road and Highway 15, which is about 15 minutes north of Pawnee.

Fire trucks were sent out to protect the structures from the flames and the firefighters were successful, officials said.

Pawnee Fire Department, Pawnee Nation Fire Department, Morrison Fire Department, Red Rock Fire Department, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs Fire Department are working this fire, officials said.
