Parents arrested after three-week-old baby found dead in Sallisaw

SALLISAW, Okla. -- The parents of a three-week-old girl were arrested after the infant was found dead Monday in Sallisaw. 

Sallisaw police officers were dispatched to the home in the 300 block of North Cherry Street Monday after noon. Officers found the baby unresponsive and firemen and paramedics started CPR.

The baby was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Police said the mother and father of the baby were suspected to be under the influence of narcotics.

The baby's mother, Bretta Workman, 26, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. The baby's father, Jacob Henning, 31, was arrested and charged with child neglect.

The case is still under investigation.
