OWASSO, Okla. - Owasso Public Schools' largest bond issue is up for vote on Tuesday morning.
If it passes, the district will use $57 million to make improvements to their facilities and build a new elementary school by fall 2019.
In the "Superintendent's Report" on the district's website, Superintendent Dr. Clark Ogilvie said that the school district is growing fast, and they they must keep up with its growth. Currently, the district has about 9,800 students, and they expect by fall 2019 to have 10,200.
With the addition of a new elementary school and a new science wing to the high school, Dr. Ogilvie said the new capacity will be at 11,300 students.
The top five items in the bond issue by cost are:
- Morrow Elementary School $23,500,000
- Owasso High School West Wing with F-5 Safe Gym $8,700,000
- Turf Replacement and Installation $5,450,000
- Administration Center Renovation and Expansion $4,710,000
- Smith Elementary with F-5 Safe Gym $3,330,000
