OWASSO, Okla. — Owasso police say teens who attempted to lure children into their truck with candy were carrying out a prank.

The Owasso Police Department sought help identifying the drivers of a pickup truck after a report came in Thursday night that two men in a pickup truck attempted to lure children near 14000 East 87th Place North.

Police said they interviewed the teens, who admitted to carrying out a misguided prank.

"We are confidence that the teens were not a real threat to the children. OPD thanks everyone for their patience and tips during this obviously concerning incident. We would also like to commend the kids who did the right thing by getting to a safe place and telling an adult. We take any threat to the safety of a child very seriously and we are very thankful that this one turned out to be unfounded."
