First homicide reported in Owasso for 2016 leaves 60-year-old man facing murder charges

OWASSO, Okla. - Authorities are investigating what they say is the first reported homicide of this year in Owasso.

According to Owasso police, they were called to a house on North Garnett to reports of a stabbing that allegedly occurred around 12:45 p.m. Thursday.

Officers found the victim, Michael Floyd, 37, dead from multiple stab wounds. David Wayne Ellis, 60, was found in a nearby field and taken into police custody.

No motive is known at this time, but officers say there was a party at the home prior to the stabbing.

Ellis will be charged with murder after he is moved to the Tulsa County Jail, reports Owasso police
