OWASSO, Okla. -- David Bohrer and his wife were some of the first to move into Owasso's Maple Glen neighborhood. Local builder "Simmons Homes" is one of the developers.
"I came over, took a tour of their model home and really liked the layout," Bohrer said. "I picked the same design for my home.
But last year, he noticed extensive water damage around the exterior of his house.
"What's happened is the water's gotten into the siding here and, it's caused it to bow and rot," he said. "The fix is this will have to be replaced."
He says he reached out to Simmons Homes, hoping to exercise his warranty, but didn't get the answer he expected.
"It's very frustrating because I contacted the company back in September by email, and they said you don't have a problem, you just need to upkeep your maintenance," he said.
That's when he says he started talking to neighbors with similar problems.
"All the ones that I'm documenting the damage on, that was taken...It's been this year. "
And, he saw crews fixing other homes.
"It could be into the thousands of dollars in talking to one contractor for the repair work, which would be ripping the boards out more or less and then have to be repainted," he said.
That's when he reached out to 2 Works for You Problem Solvers for help.
"And, it just continues to get worse," he said. "And, it is stressful."
2 Works for You Problem Solvers contacted Simmons Homes again to explain Bohrer's situation, and we were told they would schedule a time to inspect his home.
Two weeks later, Bohrer says a Simmons representative met with him and agreed his home needed the damaged siding replaced, and that the initial installation was done incorrectly. The homeowner then sent me a follow-up email that said the damaged siding was replaced on May 11, and that Simmons Homes agreed to repaint the repaired areas.
Problem solved.
