Owasso company recalls more than 17,000 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken

An Owasso company is recalling more than 17.000 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken due to possible undercooking. 

In a news releasefrom the United States Department of Agriculture, National Steak and Poultry issued the recall for products that were produced on October 4, 2016.

Those products include:

  • 5 pounds bags packed 2 bags per case; product labeled "Distributed by National Steak and Poultry, Owasso, OK Fully Cooked, Diced, Grilled Boneless Chicken Breast Meat with Rib Meat: with Lot code 100416, and Case Code: 70020.
  • 5 pounds bags packed 2 bags per case; product labeled "Hormel Natural Choice 100% Natural No Preservatives Fully Cooked Roasted Chicken Breast Strips with Rib Meat Natural Smoke Flavor Added: with Lot Code 100416 and Case Code: 702113.

According to the USDA, the problem was discovered on November 14 when a food service customer complained the product appeared to be undercooked. 

There have been no confirmed reports of illness due to the consumption of these products. USDA recommends anyone concerned about an adverse health effect should contact a health care provider.
