OSDH: Flu deaths increase by 2, making the total 12 in Oklahoma

According to the Oklahoma State Department of Health's weekly flu activity summary, the number of flu deaths have increased by 2, making the total 12 in Oklahoma since Sept. 1.

OSDH reports the number of new hospitalizations reported between December 29 - January 4, 2020 are 188.

OSDH report shows the number of new and previously reported hospitalizations with testing between Sept. 1, 2019 - Dec. 28, 2019 are 461.

OSDH is now reporting there have been two new deaths related to the flu, making the total for Oklahoma 12 cumulative deaths.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health, the Tulsa Health Department and the Oklahoma City-County Health Department say this year's flu virus is particularly unusual' and they expect it to be severe.

The number of flu deaths in Tulsa County and in Oklahoma is on the rise, officials say.

Health departments urge Oklahomans to get vaccinated as soon as possible as it is one of the most important things we could do for our children and ourselves, officials say.
