OSDH: Flu deaths increase by 1, making the new total 75 in Oklahoma

According to the Oklahoma State Department of Health's weekly flu activity summary, the number of flu deaths have increased by 1, making the total 75 in Oklahoma since Sept. 1.

OSDH reports the number of new hospitalizations reported between March 15 and March 21, 2020 are 88.

The OSDH report shows the number of new and previously reported hospitalizations with testing between Sept. 1, 2019 - March 14, 2020 are 3273.

OSDH is now reporting deaths related to the flu have increased by 1 between March 15 and March 21, making the total for Oklahoma 75 cumulative deaths. Thirteen of the total flu deaths are out of Tulsa County.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health, the Tulsa Health Department and the Oklahoma City-County Health Department say this year's flu virus is particularly unusual and they expect it to be severe.

Health departments urge Oklahomans to get vaccinated as soon as possible as it is one of the most important things we could do for our children and ourselves, officials say.
