OSBI investigating after Sequoyah County woman allegedly embezzles more than $400K

SEQUOYAH COUNTY, Okla. -- The Oklahoma State Bureau is investigating after they say a Roland woman embezzled more than $400,000.

Authorities say Carolyn Hignite, 45, prepared 122 fictitious loans under fake names at Anchor Financial Services.

Hignite then took the money assigned to each loan, totaling $427,699.

Authorities say Hignite started the scheme around Christmas of 2012 to bankroll a gambling habit.

Agents arrested Hignite at the Sequoyah County Jail when she turned herself in Monday. Her bond is set at $5,000.
