SAPULPA, Okla. — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting at a motel just inside Sapulpa city limits early Tuesday morning.

Captain Glenn Coffey with the Sapulpa Police Department said officers responded to a call of a man at the Regency Inn off West Skelly Drive. The man said he was homicidal and reportedly threatened to shoot and kill the next person he saw.

Officials said when officers made contact just after 1:00 a.m., shots were fired.

So far, it's unclear what led up to the shooting; however, newly-released body camera video from one of the officers shows him commanding the suspect to get his hands out of his pocket. Then, after about seven seconds, the officer shoots the suspect several times, and the video shows the man falling to the ground.

Officers said he was taken to the hospital and went into surgery. His condition hasn't been released.

SPD said during the preliminary investigation, they didn't find a weapon on the suspect.

The officers involved the shooting were transported to the police station. They were not hurt and have been put on routine paid administrative leave.

Their names will be released at a later time.
