The teacher crisis continues in Oklahoma, and one local organization is stepping in to help.

"Teaching and Leading Initiative" hosted more than 20 school districts today at OU-Tulsa.

They're aiming to help school leaders ready emergency certified and beginner teachers.

Just this school year alone, the state issued nearly 3,000 emergency certifications.

"We're able to get into the classroom, understand the needs of our kids, look at data effectively and see how our kids are learning so we can respond to the individual challenges of those individual teachers,” Dr. Joanna Lein, Teaching and Leading Initiative Executive Director said.

Many teachers leave the profession in their first five years -

So they are hoping this training will help keep them in the classroom.
