SAPULPA, Okla. (AP) -- An open house is scheduled for the planned Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum in Sapulpa.
Organizers are inviting the public to visit the museum site Saturday and learn about the progress at the 10,000-square-foot property, which will eventually feature vintage cars and interactive exhibits along Route 66. Automobile enthusiasts are also invited to show off their cars and motorcycles during the day-long event.
The Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum will be located at an old military armory in Sapulpa. It's expected to open in early 2016 and will feature vintage cars, exhibits, a gift shop, children's area and a 66-foot-tall gas pump.
Organizers are still in the process of raising money for the museum.
