One man is dead after his car plunged about 20 feet into a creek near 31st and Garnett.
Tulsa Police first thought it was a deadly traffic accident, but homicide detectives were called out to the scene because the victim had been shot. They said he was shot in the torso and had bullet holes on the side of his car.
"We’re working backwards," Officer Jeanne Mackenzie said. "Now we have to figure out what happened to them."
Police said the driver was heading east on 31st Street, veered across the road and landed in Brookhollow Creek. Pieces of his car were in the Papa John's parking lot, which is right next to the creek.
Police said there is also another scene - that is connected - at the Quiktrip at 31st and Highway 169.
The victim was last seen alive around 31st and Mingo, according to officers.
"Our homicide detectives are going to have to start getting to know this individual, getting to know who this individual hangs out with, the family, any issues that he’s had with anybody," Officer Mackenzie said.
TPD has identified the victim but has not released his name yet. He is said to be a male in his late 20s.
