Okmulgee police find decomposed body in garage, case being investigated as homicide

OKMULGEE -- Okmulgee police are investigating after they said they found a badly decomposed body inside a garage on Monday night.

The body was found after 7 p.m. on Monday at a home in the 200 block of South Osage. Police responded to the home after they received reports of a foul odor coming from the home.

Police found the body as a result of the investigation. Police said that due to the condition of the body, they did not see obvious signs of trauma.

The body was taken to the medical examiner, who found signs of trauma during the autopsy. The person who died was identified as James Richardson, 47.

The case is now being investigated as a homicide.
